If Jeremy was not rescued

If Jeremy was not rescued this would be his fate:

At just 17 weeks of age catchers would enter Jeremy’s shed, and along with his friends, he would be herded and pushed into crates. Once crammed into these crates, Jeremy would be transported to one of Australia’s slaughterhouses- his journey could be a long one. Most likely, at arrival at the slaughterhouse Jeremy would be shackled upside-down. This could be excruciating for a bird as large as Jeremy, especially if he is left to wait for an extended time while his companions are killed first. To stun him, Jeremy will have his head dragged through a bath of electrified water- however, if he struggles, he may miss the bath of water, and instead, be fully conscious when his throat is cut.

Jeremy will then bleed to death. His lifeless body will be scolded, de-feathered, washed, eviscerated, and then chilled in an ice slurry or air chiller. He will then be weighed and wrapped in plastic ready for his final journey to your local supermarket. Ironically, this may be the longest journey of his life. While Jeremy was only given 17 weeks of life, his cling-filmed body may have to wait up to 3 years before being placed in a supermarket freezer for someone to eat.
