Mandatory CCTV for all slaughterhouses

Too many abattoirs in Australia have been exposed revealing animals being beaten, kicked and horrifically abused.  We can no longer assume that behind the closed doors of slaughter houses the least possible suffering occurs.

One in five abattoirs in the U.K. killing cows, pigs, goats and sheep now have CCTV. These are responsible for nearly half the red meat obtained from UK slaughterhouses. Just under 30% of poultry slaughterhouses – accounting for 59% of birds – also have CCTV. Ministers are considering making CCTV compulsory in slaughterhouses in England, Scotland and Wales to help enforce laws against animal cruelty.  We call on you to do the same for animals in N.S.W.
