HORSE RACING DEMONSTRATION - WE NEED YOU!!

Animal Liberation with The Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses has recently launched its campaign against the use of the whip on racehorses.

A demonstration was held outside Randwick Racecourse at Derby day highlighting that there’s nothing fashionable about whipping a horse.

The use of the whip in horseracing has existed since horseracing began over 200 years ago.

But why is it allowed to continue right before our very eyes?

The use of the whip is condoned largely because the horse is a prey animal and will instinctively not show any signs of weakness. As a result, they suffer in silence as humans use this to exploit an animal unable to defend itself.

Even a horse with a broken leg will not show any overt signs of being in pain other than seeking to avoid applying pressure to the broken limb.

Be the voice that the horses don’t have

If we want change then we must make it happen. This is your chance to speak out for all horses and become involved in a campaign that will cause sweeping changes to how horses are treated. No animal is so publicly humiliated as the racehorse. Whipped and forced to race distances it would never run in natural conditions with a 50kg weight on it’s back, no wonder the average racing career is less than 3 years.
