Dear Animal Advocates,

Volunteers Needed

If you would like to be a part of talking to teens about making a difference, then we would like to invite you to volunteer at our stall at the National Youth Volunteering Symposium, next Wednesday 18th November. The event will see students from most western secondary schools having the opportunity to find out more about animal cruelty and our organisation. But most importantly, it will give them the opportunity to make a difference.

What:  Animal Liberation Stall, National Youth Volunteering Symposium

Where: Parramatta Town Hall (5min walk from Parramatta train station)

When: Morning of  Wednesday, 18th November (8:30am to 12pm)

Contact: Nicole Brown (Education Officer, ALNSW)

Film Night

My name is Fredrika and I will be hosting a screening of the animal rights movie 'Earthlings' in Bondi starting from 6pm on the 15th of November. It will be held at Ruby's Place/Chapel by the Sea, 95 Roscoe Street, Bondi Beach.

The idea is to spread the word on animal cruelty and how people can make a difference. Any proceedings from this screening goes to the small but incredible organisation Animal Aid Abroad (www.animalaidabroad.org). I am looking for a group of volunteers to help with a few things on the night (entry, information/merchandise, tea and bake sale) and also distribution of fliers (like at meet-ups during the week, the Glebe festival and in Bondi on the day). The venue and the equipment are awesome and a great atmosphere is expected. (If you can't volunteer, please bring family and friends to the screening. Cafe opens from 6pm, screening starts 7pm sharp.) Please contact me on fredrika_nordh@hotmail.com for further information. Any passionate help is greatly appreciated! For the voiceless!

Animal Law Course

Details of the Animal Law course to be held at UNSW this summer have now been finalised.  The course will run from Monday 11 January through to Sunday 17 January 2010 (inclusive).   Lecturers for the course will include two of Australia’s leading animal law practitioners, Dr Malcolm Caulfield and John Mancy, plus a number of other veterinary, philosophical and legal specialists.  The course will be taught intensively over the 7 days (approx 9am-4pm; some days til 5pm), and will consist of a mix of lectures, discussions, videos, case studies, exercises, etc.
The course is open to undergraduate law students from UNSW or other universities, or to people with a law degree who would be interested in enrolling as a single (non-award) course.  For any inquiries about the course, please contact me (Tara Ward, course convenor) at: tara.ward@iinet.com.au

  1. Nokia Mobile Phone
  2. 2 pairs of sunglasses
  3. 1 large silver coloured earing
  4. 1 bottle of Macquariedale wine

If you think any of these items are yours, please contact Sarah on 0431 849711 or email sarah@animal-lib.org.au

Blue Mountains Fundraiser

On November 28th, the core of the Blue Mountains music scene have kindly donated their services in organising a fundraising concert for Animal Liberation NSW. We're calling it Liberty Day.

The event starts at 1pm and continues through till 1am at Blackburns Family Hotel, Parke St Katoomba.(2minutes walk from the station.) The management have been kind enough to donate prizes and provide lights, P.A., sound engineer and advertising.

The programme provides an eclectic mix of entertainment by accomplished performers with something to appeal to any taste. Highlights include Leanne Hawkins, singer songwriter finalist at 2009 Tamworth Country Music Festival, Cleatus Carr and blues outfit Wanted, and underground cult band Mad Cowboy Disease.

Money will be raised by donation, with buckets passed around, and there is no cover charge.

The hotel has a bistro with limited vegetarian food and a small beer garden, and both these areas are child friendly. Wheelchair access is available front and rear entrance.

Great weather here in the Mountains in November, and Liberty Day at the pub will be the event to go to, have a great time and be there for the animals.
