Last night Today Tonight Featured an Animal Liberation NSW Expose of the Turkey Industry
Over 1 million viewers were given a glimpse into rarely seen footage inside intensive turkey sheds. The footage shows massive overcrowding, turkeys with foot abnormalities, turkeys with infected wounds, de-feathered and sick turkeys.
The Today Tonight expose also revealed a few dirty secrets - that turkeys may be kept frozen for up to three years before being sold at the supermarket! Also, that Australia uses immersion chilling - now banned in the EU because of cross contamination concerns and water retention.
