Woolworths - supporting cruelty!

Please write to Woolworths regarding giving a convicted pig farmer a ‘second chance’

WOOLWORTHS' image as the "fresh food people" is under attack over its refusal to dump a pork supplier charged with aggravated cruelty.

A commercial piggery in northeast Tasmania faced multiple charges after a raid by an animal welfare activist who captured damning evidence of maggot-infested pigs and pigs stuck in small pens.

Animal Liberation and other groups are demanding Woolworths sever ties with the supplier, who has been charged with cruelty.

Woolworths spokeswoman Clare Buchanan said the company was reluctant to do so because the supplier was one of long-standing.

This is unacceptable. Please write a short letter to:

Mr Michael Luscombe

Managing Director

Woolworths Limited

Please ask Woolworths to sever ties with this piggery and that this support of a cruel pig farmer is contrary to their Corporate Responsibility mission statement. Please also suggest that you will no longer shop at Woolworths and that supermarkets like Woolworths are now under far more public scrutiny due to a more discerning public on animal rights issues.
